City of culture, Yogyakarta, takes home the coveted Green Region award for 2011. The Indonesia Green Region Awards (IGRA) were recently announced and out of 36 cities/regencies ten were chosen as finalists. The top three spots?

Sonny Keraf, a member of the IGRA selection panel, said Yogyakarta tops for cleanliness stemming from sustainability programs which have reduced daily rubbish by 28%, freed up land for park space and revitalized rivers. No. 2 Surabaya has doubled the amount of green space in the city and No. 3 Denpasar was named for promoting bicycle use. All images from google images.
