Theo was in a very happy mood when he woke up today, I think he could tell something was up. I picked a treasure map / stranded on a desert island theme, which went pretty well with the existing vibe of our villa, and started setting up the decorations first thing in the morning.
Cheerio was all ready for the excitement guarding the gift table.
In the afternoon I nearly hyperventilated inflating balloons which Theo had a blast kicking and head butting with Michel. Nunga and I had a blast putting them under his shirt making him look pregnant or like a little Buddha.
Then we set up his new toy train which was much faster and louder then we could have ever dreamed. I think we have a new morning alarm clock!
Around 5 everyone came over to celebrate with an apero and cake. It was a wacky blend of English, French, Indonesia and Balinese spoken in our living room
Michel found a white chocolate truffle cake from Bali Bakery in Denpasar topped with the pirate candles from the toy store in Seminyak
Then Theo opened all his presents, lots of great musical instruments and wooden toys and books to compliment the crazy train.
By 10 everyone was home and ready for bed. Pretty awesome first birthday!
